Bhuvneshwar Kumar fumes at sources claiming he doesn’t want to play long-form cricket

Senior Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar on Saturday replied to all those sources who claimed that he is reluctant to play test cricket saying that he has always prepared to play all three formats. Multiple news sources earlier claimed that due to some issues, Bhuvneshwar Kumar does not want to play red-ball cricket anymore.

The morning reports that made the pacer angry stated that Kumar wants to focus more on the shorter format games and the league tournaments, especially the T20 opportunities coming forward.

“Those who have seen him from close insist he brought in a huge change in his work-drills a couple of seasons ago, doing away with heavyweight training, falling to the lure of the white-ball comfort and avoiding those hours of long spells that are so integral to red-ball cricket. “‘To be honest, the selectors don’t even see Bhuvi hungry for 10 overs, forget Test cricket. It’s Team India’s loss no doubt because if one bowler should have made it to England, it should have been him,” said the reports published by TOI.

However, the Indian swing king himself took to Twitter to bash all those baseless reports and claims. He also suggested to all those reporters to stop writing unjustified news based on the claims of so-called sources.

“There have been articles about me not wanting to play Test cricket. Just to clarify, I have always prepared myself for all three formats irrespective of the team selection and will continue to do the same.

Suggestion – please don’t write your assumptions based on “sources”!” wrote Bhuvneshwar Kumar on Twitter.

Why is Bhuvneshwar Kumar not included in India’s squad for England?

Bhuvneshwar Kumar had a brilliant India-England limited-overs series in February-March after coming back from injury. It looked that the pacer is back in form with full fitness and will be up for the selection for the longest form of cricket. However, this did not happen.

When India’s squad was named for the England tour, he was not included in the list of 20 players. The most surprising part for the fans and cricketing pundits was that English soil will favour Kumar’s style of bowling. Moreover, he can swing and trouble the batter with his abilities.

India is scheduled to fly to England for a three months long marathon tour on June 2. The tour will begin with the final of the ICC World Test Championship against New Zealand at Rose Bowl Stadium in Southampton following which India will have a five games Test series against England, starting August 4.

A couple of experts believed that due to lack of competitive multi-day cricket practice in recent times hindered Bhuvneshwar’s way to England.

The Uttar Pradesh seamer played his last Test game back in January 2018 against South Africa in Johannesburg. Since then Bhuvneshwar has been in and out of the squad due to multiple injuries concerns.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar did not have a good now-suspended IPL 2021. He managed to pick up only three wickets in five games. He was also dropped from the playing11 for SRH due to some niggle.
